Ok, since I brought her name up in another post... I should start a looking for thread! Anyone know what happened to Carol, or keep in touch with her?? Not that we were great friends or anything, but after I graduated, I totally lost touch with everyone from '95.

And what about Melanie? I saw her many years ago while I was on leave, she was working at a bookstore, but that girl was sharp, I can't imagine her not going off to school somewhere.

Can someone bust out a yearbook and check my spelling of Carols name please???

If I have it right, it seems that she may of went to USC, and dated a guy named Enrico Green... either that, or he had a pretty bad crush on her. Research rules...

Well, I think I found Carol... just got some mailing addresses, so I have to do this the old fashioned way.

This is the poem that an Enrico Green wrote, dedicated to her, that I found on some website: (Sorry Carol... don't be too embarassed.)

Carol was uncommonly Los Angeles,
but in a moral way.
A sexual spirit
that was
more uncommon that not,
nearly naïve,
and mostly talk.

At times she is
uncommonly Carol.
Too dark to make me smile,
but too bright for crying.
She talked about her dreams too much,
and while listening my heart
was trying to grasp
what she’s getting at,
getting to,
or getting away from
on the traffic jammed freeway.

Her legs were maybe
tired from running in her head
and chasing what it is
that troubled her a little to much,
me a little less,
and Los Angeles a little too much.
But she danced with it
and tried to understand.

I understood that she
was just acting
uncommonly Carol.
So I stretched and strove
to kiss her
across Venice beach.
But my lips being too hot
and hers being too
Carol for kissing,
we instead shook hands
and surfed the boardwalk.

My love was lost
while I tried to hold on to her,
and she held on to Hollywood hopes.
But in her bruised brown eyes
I glimpsed the mysteries of Carol:
of why this life,
and why this body,
and why this world?
I instead wondered why
of all the cities in the world,
this was the only one that was
uncommonly Carol.

That's Carol. The poem sounds just like her. :D

I went to USC and I remember that she was in the journalism program at USC. Maybe she's a reporter somewhere. Mark, I can probably find out through my contacts at USC what she's doing. I have friends who work at the J-School and they keep a database of Alumni. If I find some info I'll let you know.

Yeah... that'd be cool, thanks. I guess I got in touch with the guy that wrote that poem, he was amazed it was still floating around. He said she worked on the school paper, and wouldn't be surprised if she worked for some PR firm or something like that. Said that she was VERY motivated. He also mentioned that last he remembered, her Mom was still in Hemet, but I doubt she'd live in the same complex after all these years.

correction... he had the biggest crush on her, they didn't go out, or so it seems. Staking out? Is that the same as walking up and knocking on the door?

Are you going to wear the pink leotard or the blue stripey ones? Don't forget your leg warmers!

The last time I saw Carol Surovey was this Fall at a friends house in Hemet. As far as I now, she's still working as an ad exec at Merle Norman cosmetics in LA. She's still a bit wild, and very fun, but I think when I hung out she was considering moving back to Spain, but I don't think she's decided yet. I will try to get her address for you, but in the meantime, I would try to contact her through the Merle Norman Corporate Office in or near LA.

Well that was a great lead Candice, but she left just before christmas. The lady on the phone was really nice and told me someone in the office would probably know how to contact her, and gave me her voicemail. So we'll see what happens.

Thanks again.

Now, what about Melanie... anyone know what happened to her?
